Liverpool have been interested in signing Portuguese international and Sporting CP star Gelson Martins and now reports suggest that even Manchester United want him.
According to O Jogo, Manchester United are eyeing a move for the 22-year-old right winger, who has a release clause (image provided below) of 60 million euros ($67million) in his contract (Mail).
The Portuguese source claim that Sporting are pushing to get at least €50million from his sale.
Martins started the last campaign in brilliant fashion. In first 8 league games, he directly contributed in 8 goals (2 goals and 6 assists) and deservedly earned his place in the senior national side for the first time in October.
Overall, in 32 Primeira Liga outings, Gelson scored 6 goals and provided no fewer than 14 assists last season.
Manchester United splashed the cash and signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan last summer to improve their attack. However, Mourinho still lacks quality and depth in his attacking department and someone like Martins could be a great signing.
In your opinion, is Gelson good enough to improve Manchester United’s attack.
