Liverpool have been seriously looking to sign Southampton star Virgil van Dijk for a long time and recent reports have been interesting.
The Saints reported Liverpool to the Premier League and as a result, the Reds officially apologized and claimed that they have ended their interest in signing Van Dijk.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then the transfer saga is perhaps still active and the Dutch international may still end up joining Liverpool.
Yahoo Sport revealed certain important points about how the Merseysiders illegally tried to entice Van Dijk to the club. The report says that Jurgen Klopp held talks with the former Celtic star and even shared video messages to explain his role in the team. Moreover, personal terms had been finalized with the player as well.
Yahoo claim that now Virgil wants out and he has started to make efforts in order to leave the club in the summer transfer window. In addition, the report says that the agent trying to make the transfer happen, for his personal benefit, wants Van Dijk to move to Anfield.
Few days back, The Times reported that the Netherlands star could cost around 60 million pounds (€68m) but the source has told Yahoo that the Saints do not need to sell him this summer and may consider if an offer of around 100 million pounds is made.
Liverpool do need to strengthen their back line after conceding goals on regular basis in the last campaign but after getting humiliated in the media, it is better for them to forget about Virgil and sign someone else.
