Chelsea have been interested in signing French international and Monaco star Timeoue Bakayoko for a long time and the latest reports suggest that he is close to moving to Stamford Bridge.
Back in March, renowned journalist Guillem Balague confirmed (via twitter) that the 22-year-old defensive midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Blues and only the fee agreement was left.
Now, according to French source L’Equipe, the Champions of England are close to agreeing a fee worth $45million with the Champions of France to hire the services of the Les Bleus midfielder.
Bakayoko featured in over 50 games for the Ligue 1 side last season, scored three goals and provided one assist. He provided a solid cover in front of the back four for Monaco, who deservedly won the title by finishing 8 points above PSG.
Tiemoue was influential in the Champions League as well. He scored the decisive goal to knock Manchester City out of the competition (R16). Monaco reached the last four and were eliminated by Italian giants Juventus.
If Bakayoko does end up moving to Stamford Bridge, we can expect him to partner compatriot N’Golo Kante in the center of the park under the management of Antonio Conte.
