Liverpool have been in search of a new left back for a long time now. They tried to hire one last summer as well but failed and then opted to use James Milner, a natural center midfielder, in the LB position.
The retired England international has done well in a position he does not prefer. So far, in 33 league games this season, the former Manchester City star has scored 7 goals (all from penalty kicks) and also provided 3 assists.
However, Klopp needs to sign a natural left back this summer to solve the dilemma once and for all and Liverpool have been constantly linked with French international and Atletico Madrid defender Theo Hernandez.
Currently, the 19-year-old defender is on loan with Deportivo Alaves. In 30 league appearances for the Spanish side this season, he has provided four assists.
I was present at the Nou Camp when Theo featured against Barcelona back in September 2016. Alaves ended up winning the game 2-1. The youngster was impressive against Arda Turan and was not troubled even after the introduction of Messi and Suarez in the second half.
Last month, we covered a report (via Cadena Ser) claiming that the Anfield club have offered him a salary which is five times more than his current package.
Now, according to reports (SW via Mundo Deportivo), Klopp is ready to pay a huge amount to secure the signing of the teenage defender. Moreover, even Sport (SW) have claimed that Liverpool have made an offer to the player and he will talk to his agent about the move.
As per the provided Sport Witness links, Theo has a release clause of 24 million euros ($26million) in his contract. In your opinion, should Liverpool sign young Hernandez or look for a proven quality left back?
