Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has undergone a successful knee surgery in the US but it is highly unlikely that he will be at Old Trafford next season.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils need to replace the veteran striker with a top quality goalscorer and more than a few quality names are in the lime light.
Earlier in the day, we covered a report (via Daily Mail) claiming that United will have to break the bank to hire the services of Antoine Griezman. Another star forward heavily linked with a move to Man United is Italian international and Torino star Andrea Belotti.
Last month, Mirror claimed that Man United are closing in on signing the 23-year-old Azzurri center forward, who has been in top form this season.
Now, according to ESPN sources, Man Utd have moved in and approached the Italian club about signing the former Palemro striker, who has a release clause of 100 million euros ($109million) in his contract, applicable only if the player moves abroad.
Belotti has netted 25 goals in 31 Serie A outings in the current campaign. He is the joint leading goalscorer in the league. Roma’s Edin Dzeko has also netted 25 times in the league.
Overall, Andrea has netted 27 goals and provided 6 assists in 34 games (all competitions) for Torino this season.
Not to forget, captain Wayne Rooney may end up leaving the Old Trafford club this summer and therefore, United must sign at least two forwards in the summer transfer window.
Belotti has the quality to be a hit in the Premier league with the Red Devils and the fans will go crazy if Mourinho can lure both Griezmann and Andrea in the summer.
