Liverpool are interested in signing a top quality central defender in the summer transfer window and more than a few star names are in the lime light.
Recently, we covered a report (via Mirror) claiming that the Merseysiders have agreed personal terms to hire the services of Michael Keane from Burnley. Now, the Reds are once again linked with Danish star Simon Kjaer.
Back in March, there were reports suggesting that Klopp has sent scouts to monitor his performances for Turkish side Fenerbahce (Sporx).
As per the latest update provided by Turkish source Fanatik, the 28-year-old center half has recently been in talks with the Milan clubs and that has alerted Liverpool, who took action by contacting the player’s agent Mikkel Beck to discuss a potential move.
Simon’s current deal with Fenerbahce will expire in 2019 and he is rated (Turkish Football) around 20 million euros ($22million)
This season, in 38 appearances in all competitions, the former Lille defender has netted 3 goals and provided an assist for the Super Lig side.
It must be noted that Liverpool have been involved in transfer business with Fenerbahce in the past few seasons. They loaned out Markovic when Rodgers was in charge and sold Martin Skrtel to the Turkish team last summer.
Apart from Keane, Liverpool are also interested in another PL proven star in the form of Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, who has agreed to join the Reds if they qualify for the Champions League (via Read Liverpool).
In your opinion, who should Klopp sign to strengthen the central defense?
