Manchester United have failed to close out games this season under the management of Jose Mourinho. A lot of the blame for that goes to the attackers but the defenders are also failing to keep clean sheets.
In such a scenario, the Red Devils need to strengthen their back line in the summer transfer window and they have the chance to sign French international and Real Madrid star Raphael Varane.
According to Don Balon, the reigning European champions are looking to sell the 23-year-old defender and hire the services of a new center half.
The Spanish source claim that Varane has the option of joining Manchester United where his former boss, Jose Mourinho, is in charge. Raphael was a key member of the Real Madrid squad that won the La Liga title in 2012 under the Portuguese boss.
Don Balon further claim that Mourinho has been keen on reuniting with Varane for a long time and Madrid are eyeing Italian international Leonardo Bonucci to replace him.
This season, the former Lens defender has featured in 19 league games for the Los Blancos, scored a goal and provided an assist. Currently, he is out injured with an Achilles problem.
Varane’s current contract with Real Madrid will expire in 2020 and he is rated around €64million as per CIES Football Observatory.

Certainly would not entertain buying Varane with his injury history it is worse than Jones’.
We have first to qualify to the next UCL, any good player we will want will come.
Raphael for 64million euros is crazy. Utd does not need varane instead get a player like rudiger or Michael Keane or better still van dijk for less the amount instead of verane.
Please will dont even need injury player like varane bring back our keane from Burnley or Van Dijk from Southampton
Or just go for mano las from Roma or Giménez from atlético. These two are better suitors because they have been playing and are looking ready to make a change to a great team that can give them the time to play.
