Manchester United are linked with more than a few top quality stars and they must splash the cash in the summer to strengthen the team.
According to latest reports (Daily Star via The Sun), Celta Vigo star Theo Bongonda has put Manchester United and Chelsea on alert by stating that he would be ready to join the clubs if they moved in for him.
The 21-year-old Belgian international claimed:
“If Chelsea, Manchester United or Atletico Madrid call me in the near future I should be ready to make the step up to join them.”
Theo is a versatile playmaker who could effectively be deployed on either flank. Mainly, he is a left winger and has been in decent form for the Spanish side.
In 35 appearances (all competitions), the former Zulte Waregem attacker has netted 2 goals and provided 5 assists in the current campaign.
His current contract with Celta Vigo will expire in 2019 and he is rated around 17 million euros ($18million) as per CIES Football Observatory. As per the provided Daily Star link, Bongonda has also claimed that he would not say no to clubs like Sevilla and Real Madrid.
Manchester United need proven quality stars in the summer transfer window and in all fairness, Theo does not fit the bill at the moment.
As far as Belgian playmakers are concerned, someone like Atletico Madrid’s Carrasco will be perfect for the Red Devils.
