Chelsea have been heavily interested in signing Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata but they must act swiftly to secure his signature because even Manchester United are seriously looking to hire his services to replace Ibrahimovic.
The Red Devils’ boss wanted to sign the former Juventus striker (via El Confidencial) last summer as well but the move did not happen.
Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Mourinho has himself taken action and inquired about finally signing the La Roja center forward this summer.
As per Don Balon, the former Chelsea boss has contacted Florentino Perez to discuss a move for Alvaro Morata.
On the other hand, Cadena Ser have claimed that Mourinho has moved in and called the player to talk about a possible move to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old striker is a top quality goalscorer but he has mainly warmed the bench this season under the management of Zinedine Zidane, who has preferred compatriot Karim Benzema in the starting XI.
Morata has only started 11 league games in the current campaign. Moreover, he has only been able to start once in the UEFA Champions League. In such a scenario, a move away from the Bernabeu should be beneficial for him.
In 36 appearances (all competitions) this season, Morata has netted 17 goals and also provided 4 assists. His current contract will expire in 2021 and the reigning European Champions want (Express) around 50 million pounds ($64million) for their prized asset.
