In the recent weeks, Liverpool have been heavily linked with Colombian international and Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
The Reds are looking to amplify the quality and depth of their attack and the former Monaco star is being eyed.
Now, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has confirmed that Liverpool are keen on hiring the services of the 25-year-old attacking midfielder. However, the Merseysiders are not the only ones interested and the player may look to move elsewhere as well.
Balague claimed (Sky Sports):
“Of course they (Liverpool) are (keen), but they aren’t the only one. Liverpool are realistic and I think they realise James is looking for a different type of team.”
Rodriguez is a top quality star without doubt but he has only been able to warm the bench at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane. The best possible option for him is to move abroad, where he could earn at least as much as he is earning right now and also get regular game time.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, they can surely hand James regular starts but can they really meet his wage demands? Rodriguez currently earns £185,000-a-week with the Los Blancos (Star).
Moreover, Klopp will have to splash a huge fee to lure him. As per Mirror, James is valued at around 75 million euros. This season, Rodriguez has scored 5 goals and provided 12 assists in 24 appearances for the Spanish giants.
