Manchester United were able to keep their top four hopes alive by beating league leaders Chelsea in the Premier League yesterday.
The Red Devils were impressive on the day even when star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic started the game on the bench. We recently covered a report that United are prepared to do everything to hold on to the retired Swedish center forward (via Mirror).
Moreover, according to the Sun, Mourinho wants the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Antoine Griezmann to join Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
The Belgian international is currently leading the goal-scoring charts in the Premier League and was not preferred by Mourinho, when he was in charge of Chelsea.
Griezmann finished 3rd behind Ronaldo and Messi in the race for Ballon d’OR and is one of the best attacking midfielders around.
If the duo end up joining Zlatan then United will surely have one of the best attacking lines in the world. As per the provided Sun link, Lukaku is rated around 70 million pounds (€82million) by Everton. On the other hand, Griezmann has a release clause of €100million in his contract (Mirror).
Mourinho has mainly utilized a lone striker formation over the years. He may have to change that setup if Lukaku joins to partner Ibra.
