If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are closing in to secure the signing of Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
Yesterday, we covered a report (via Don Balon) claiming that the Colombian international has decided to join the Red Devils after the end of this campaign.
According to another Spanish source, Diario Gol, there is already an agreement in place with super agent Jorge Mendes for Rodriguez’s move to Old Trafford. Not to forget, Mendes is also the representative of Man United boss Jose Mourinho.
United are currently fighting to finish in the top four and survived a late scare to earn a single point against Manchester City last night.
The former Inter Milan manager splashed huge amounts of cash to reinforce the squad last summer but the team has under-performed in the current campaign.
To challenge for the Premier League title next season, United need major reinforcements and someone like James Rodriguez will surely improve the attacking line. The South American star is mainly a central attacking midfielder but he can effectively play on the flanks as well.
The ex Monaco playmaker needs to leave the Bernabeu for regular first team football and United can solve that dilemma for him. Earlier this month, Diario Gol stated that Mourinho is clear favorite to sign James but the Los Blancos are looking to get 80 million euros (£67million) from his sale, i.e the amount they paid to sign him from the French club.
