Liverpool have struggled to find consistency since the turn of the year and must step up big time if they are to finish in the top four.
Yesterday, the Merseysiders were able to register back to back victories for the first time in 2017 by beating Burnley 2-1 at Anfield.
Only teams from the bottom half of the table have defeated Liverpool in the Premier League this season and Burnley started the fixture in 12th place.
The visitors took the lead in the opening 10 minutes of the game to shock the Liverpool supporters yet again. Fortunately, Jurgen Klopp’s men bounced back to earn all three points, much to the delight of the Anfield crowd.
Wijnaldum equalized for the home side just before the interval. In the 61st minute of the game, Emre Can stepped up and struck a low shot from outside the box to beat Heaton and give Liverpool the lead.
In all fairness, Liverpool absolutely dominated the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham but struggled to break Burnley. However, they got the much needed victory.
Dutch international Wijnaldum tweeted his delight after winning the game but also accepted the fact that Liverpool were not at their best.
Not our best match, but very important 3 points!! #LFC #YNWA ?? pic.twitter.com/XZvpP41hyf
