Manchester United have been trying to sign German international and Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller for quite some time and the latest reports are positive for the Red Devils.
Last month, it was revealed (Telegraph via Bild) that the Old Trafford club even made an offer of 100 million euros but still failed to sign the versatile attacker last summer.
Back in the month of January, Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus claimed that there is no room for Thomas Muller in the team (Independent via Bild).
Now, the latest reports suggest that the 27-year-old Kaiser is ready to finally join Manchester United.
According to Spanish source Mundo Deportivo, Muller is not playing regularly and aims to sign for Manchester United. The report also states that Mourinho has repeatedly tried to secure his signature.
If we look at his stats (current campaign), Muller has been a regular starter in the league for the German giants. In 21 league appearances, Thomas started 18 games for Bayern. The last time he was on the bench was against RB Leipzig back in December 2016.
In the cup competitions, he has mainly been a bench warmer. In the DFB-Pokal, he was an unused substitute against the likes of Wolfsburg (Round of 16) and Schalke (QF).
Moreover, he has only started four games in this season’s Champions League. His last start in the competition was against PSV back in November 2016. He played a total of four minutes against Arsenal in the Round of 16 contest and was an unused sub in the second leg.
The situation does seem complex for Muller, who is not being preferred by Ancelotti at Bayern. In such a scenario, United must step up and hire his services this summer. According to CIES Football Observatory, the World Cup winning star is valued at €58.8million.
