Liverpool were heavily interested in signing Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich last summer but the German international left the Bundesliga champions and rejoined Borussia Dortmund.
Tuchel’s team is overcrowded with attacking midfielders and in such a scenario, the World Cup winning playmaker has mostly warmed the bench. This season, he has only scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in 16 appearances.
Last month, we covered a report (via Mirror) claiming that Liverpool have initiated talks to sign the 24-year-old playmaker this summer.
Things could have changed knowing that Mario is now out with a metabolic disorder. However, that is not the case and Gotze could finally end up joining Liverpool because Klopp still wants him.
According to Goal’s Melissa Reddy, Jurgen is open to handing Gotze the chance to revive his career at Anfield.
Mario was one of the superstars for Borussia Dortmund when Klopp was in charge of the club. Therefore, the German manager is well aware of all his qualities and still thinks that the versatile playmaker can make the difference.
Liverpool do need depth in the midfield and in the attack and Gotze is a player who can play in multiple positions.
As per the provided Mirror link, Gotze is rated around 20 million pounds ($25million). However, after his recent disorder, it will not come as any surprise if Dortmund opt to sell him for cheap in the summer transfer window.
In your opinion, should Klopp try his luck with Gotze?
