Not Mahrez – Liverpool have Moved in to Agree $62million Star Signing

Jurgen Klopp DortmundLiverpool are looking at options to reinforce their key departments in the summer transfer window and various top quality players are linked at the moment.
As far as the attack is concerned, the Reds have already made contract (via Sport) to hire the services of Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez. However, the focus of this piece is on their shaky defense.
Even after luring the likest of Matip and Klavan last summer, Klopp has failed to solve the conundrum at the back and the Merseysiders have consistently leaked goals. They have already conceded 36 goals in 29 league games this season.
Sakho was never in Klopp’s plans but he is doing wonders at Crystal Palace (on loan). His future is still unclear.
In such a scenario, the German boss is looking to sign a new central defender this summer and once again, Southampton star Virgil van Dijk is in the wanted list. The Reds were interested in signing him in the winter window as well (via Daily Mail).
Now, according to Football Whispers, Liverpool have moved in and initiated talks to finally sign the highly rated star in the summer transfer window.
The Dutch international has been one of the best defenders in the league in the current campaign and will not come for cheap. He is solid at the back and also productive in the attack from set piece situations. This season, he has featured in 30 games for the Saints (all competitions) and scored four goals.
Currently, the 25-year-old central defender is out with an ankle injury and is expected to return late in the next month (PhysioRoom).
Southampton rate Van Dijk around 50 million pounds ($62million) but a move worth 40 million pounds should be enough to lure him. The likes of Man City, Man United and Everton are also interested in securing his signature, however, Liverpool are looking to get into pole position (Football Whispers).

Klopp let Sakho go on loan when short at the back. What stupidity!
