Man Utd are Favorites to Agree $48million Star Signing

Manchester United have been tracking Benfica right back Nelson Semedo for quite some time and the Portuguese international is once again in the limelight.
According to reports (SW via Sport), Barcelona want to sign a top right full back next summer and Semedo is their priority. However, Man United are ready to meet Benfica’s asking price of 40 million euros to hire the services of the 23-year-old defender.
Also taking into consideration the reports published in the past two months, it will be safe to say that Man Utd are favorites to beat Barca and secure his signature. He has a release clause of $48million in his contract (SW via O Jogo).
Last month, we covered a report (via Portuguese source Noticias ao Minuto) claiming that Benfica have reached an agreement with Man Utd over the transfer of Semedo.
Moreover, back in January, Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes also claimed that the Red Devils have reached an agreement to seal his signing in the summer transfer window.
Nelson has only played a single game for the national side and that appearance came way back in October 2015. This season, he has been influential for the reigning Primeira Liga champions.
Semedo is a top defender, who can also be utilized on the right hand side of the midfield if needed. In 37 games, he has scored 2 goals and also provided 2 assists.
