Liverpool do not want to lose their key players in the summer transfer window and are looking to agree new deals with them
Since the turn of the year, the Merseysiders have agreed fresh contracts with stars like Philippe Coutinho (January) and Adam Lallana (February).
German international Emre Can has not yet agreed a new deal with the Reds and it is the same story with Croatian international Dejan Lovren as well.
The last time the Reds tried to sign a fresh deal with the former Southampton star, the negotiations with his representatives did not go as planned (The Guardian).
Now, Liverpool have moved in and opened talks again to reach an agreement with the 27-year-old central defender (Telegraph). Lovren joined the Anfield club when Rodgers was in charge and under the former boss, he failed to shine. However, Dejan has improved a lot under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
He is one of Liverpool’s first choice defenders and mainly partners Joel Matip in the central defense. This season, in 20 league appearances, he has netted two goals and provided one assist.
Lovren’s contract with the Merseysiders will expire in 2019 and currently, he is earning (Star) around £65,000-a-week ($4.2million-a-year).
In your opinion, does Lovren deserve a new deal?
