By not luring quality players in the winter transfer window, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wasted time and has paid the price as well.
The Reds must secure quality signings this summer to bounce back in style next season. More importantly, the Merseysiders must also hold on to their key players.
Liverpool have already agreed new deals with stars like Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana. They have been trying to tie Emre Can on a new contract as well but the German international rates himself highly and wants a lucrative deal.
According to Mirror, the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder currently earns £35,000-a-week with the Reds and wants t o agree new deal that will more than double his current earnings. This means he is looking to get over £70,000-a-week, £3.6million-a-year ($4.4million-a-year).
The 23-year-old star has been average this season. Klopp has mainly utilized the likes of Can, Wijnaldum, Henderson and Lallana in the midfield positions and in all fairness, the Kaiser has been the worst.
Emre’s versatility is his major asset. He can play in the defense, in the midfield and also has the ability to contribute in the attack.
As per the provided Mirror link, the former Borussia Dortmund manager has made it clear that he wants Can to stay.
This season, in 29 appearances for the club, Can has scored three goals and also provided three assists. The fans really should not mind if the club sells Can and replace him with a top DM.
In your opinion, does Emre deserve a lucrative new contract?
