Liverpool collide against Hull City today and manager Jurgen Klopp has selected a very strong starting XI.
Star attacker Sadio Mane returns to the starting lineup for the first time since returning from the AFCON. Moreover, this is the first time since November 2016 that the likes of Mane, Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino are starting together.
Wijnaldum scored for the Reds against Chelsea in the last game but the Dutch international starts on the bench today. Lallana, Can and Hendo start in the midfield.
As far as the defense is concerned, Klavan is ill and Lovren has a knee concern. In such a scenario, Lucas Leiva starts in the central defense with Joel Matip.
Retired England international James Milner will make his 50th league appearance for the Merseysiders. As expected, the former Man City star will play in the left fullback position.
Here is Liverpool’s confirmed XI formation vs Hull City.

That is an absolutely disgraceful and pathetic performance. All eleven players and including the subs should have pay docked. How in the hell do you have 80% of possession in the second half and cannot do anything with it. Now 11 corners in the second half alone and still cannot find the net. People say you cannot blame Klopp. Something is very wrong at present. Very wrong and Klopp does not seem to have any real idea of how to fix it. Add to that zero activity in the transfer window. I am running out of ways to rationalize the results and how to move forward.

the summer, having failed to earn an
extension.

While the 19-year-old is one of the Blues’
most highly -rated players the forward’s
wage demands, according to the Evening
Standard, of £50,000, a significant rise
from his current £7,000, are not going to
be met by Chelsea, who also refuse to
guarantee him regular playing time.

It means that Chelsea will lose Solanke in
the summer and the Evening Standard is
also reporting that the forward has been
telling his friends that he will be moving to
Liverpool.
The Merseyside club have insisted they
hold no interest in signing the youngster
who, despite appearing in a couple of
senior matchday squads this season, has
mainly been forced to play for the Chelsea
Under-23s.
Losing Solanke will mean Chelsea are
entitled to compensation due to rules
regarding academy players leaving before
their 24th birthday, and the report
speculates that the Blues could get at least
£8m for the striker.

Liverpool are currently linked with a summer
move for Leicester ‘keeper Kasper
Schmeichel, but what do Liverpool fans
think about the possibility of a deal?
On Monday, Sky Sports claimed:
“Liverpool and Arsenal will go head-to-head to
sign Kasper Schmeichel in the summer. Jurgen
Klopp will move to sign him after inconsistent
play from current options”.
Soon after, UK bookmakers installed
Liverpool as 2-1 favourites to sign £30m –
rated Schmeichel, and Reds fans appear to
be in favour of the deal. I conducted a poll
this week asking fans if Liverpool should
sign ‘ fantastic ‘ Schmeichel. The result:
* 61% of participating fans voted YES to the
transfer.
Schmeichel literally has the same stats as
Simon Mignolet (both have conceded a goal
every 78 minutes), but a better comparison
may be last season, when Schmeichel was
at the top of his game.
* Schmeichel: 40 goals conceded in 40 apps
(One every 90 mins). 15 clean sheets (One
every 240 mins)
* Mignolet : 59 goals conceded in 55 apps
(One every 85 mins). 20 clean sheets (One
every 250 mins)
Again, Schmeichel’s primary stats are not
much better than Mignolet’s, but like his
Manc father, Schmeichel is – according to
Ranieri – a ‘ fantastic leader, and a vocal
presence at the back, two qualities Liverpool
desperately need. Last month, Leicester
defender Wes Morgan enthused:
“He [Schmeichel] is very vocal and is always on
our cases to make sure that we are in the right
positions”.
I’ve never heard a Liverpool player say the
same about Simon Mignolet. £30m is an
unrealistic transfer fee, but if Leicester get
relegated (or finish very low in the table),
their bargaining position will be reduced as
Schmeichel will almost certainly want to
leave.
