Manchester United have been looking to sign West Ham star Dimitri Payet for quite some time.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with the Les Bleus playmaker last summer but he signed a new deal with the Hammers and stayed with them.
Things have completely changed because the 29-year-old French attacker wants to leave West Ham and now even the club are ready to sell him to the highest bidder (Mirror).
Back in November 2016, Mirror reported that United are ready to sign the £35million rated ($43million) superstar with a mega bid. Moreover, last month, reports suggested that Mourinho personally called Payet and made him aware that he wants him at Old Trafford (SW via Le10Sport).
If the latest reports are anything to go by then Manchester United have the edge to sign Payet because West Ham United are interested in signing Memphis Depay to replace the French star (Mirror). Jose wants to sell the Dutch international this month and wants 15 million pounds.
They can and and must use Depay to hire Payet as soon as possible because other top clubs are interested in the versatile playmaker as well. Yesterday, we covered a report (via The Sun) claiming that Antonio Conte wants Dimitri at Stamford Bridge.
Payet made it into the PFA Team of the Year last season. Moreover, he was also included in the UEFA Euro Team of the Tournament for his brilliant performances at the European Championships last year.
