Manchester United and Liverpool collided yesterday in an entertaining contest but the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Paul Pogba gifted Liverpool a penalty kick in the first half and James Milner made no mistake from the spot to open the scoring.
United had two brilliant chances to score in the first 45 minutes. The likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba were clear on goal but the French international dragged his shot wide and the Armenian star saw his effort saved by Mignolet who has been great since returning to the first team.
The Belgian goalie was brilliant and made another top save in the first half from Ibrahimovic’s free kick.
Moreover, he also saved the Reds when Lovren’s poor back pass almost fell into the path of Zlatan.
The former Sunderland star was in top form but eventually conceded as the shaky Liverpool defense was broken down in the 84th minute. Zlatan headed home the equalizer for the Red Devils.
Mourinho claimed that both teams could have played better but the match had a lot to enjoy. Moreover, he also pointed out that like every goalie, Liverpool star had a fantastic game at Old Trafford.
He stated (ESPN):
“We don’t score many goals in the first halves. Every goalkeeper that comes here plays fantastic.”
