Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Swedish center half Victor Lindelof from Benfica this winter.
However, the reports suggest that the Red Devils will pursue his signature in the summer transfer window and now even Chelsea are interested in hiring the services of the 22-year-old defender (Daily Mirror).
Yesterday, we covered a report (via O Jogo) claiming that the representatives of the Old Trafford club monitored the performances of Lindelof and Semedo during Benfica’s clash against Tondela at the weekend.
As per the provided Mirror link, Antonio Conte is ready to battle with Jose Mourinho and has made Lindelof his top priority for summer.
The former Juventus boss lured David Luiz last summer and the Brazilian international has formed a solid defensive partnership with the likes of Cahill and Azpilicueta. The Blues have the best defense having only conceded 15 goals in 22 PL games this season.
Still, it seems that Conte wants to further reinforce his back line by luring Lindelof, who will cost over £40million (The Sun). The former Vasteras defender is a versatile talent and can play in multiple defensive positions.
This season, he has featured in 26 games for Benfica, who currently sit at the top of the Primeira Liga table with a four point lead over rivals Porto.
