Manchester United have done well in the busy period without their star central defender Eric Bailly.
Last summer, the Ivorian international signed for the Red Devils in a deal (Star) worth £75,000-a-week ($95,000-a-week). In the current campaign, the former Villareal star featured in 17 games for the Old Trafford club before leaving for the African Cup of Nations earlier this month.
The reigning AFCON champions were expected to go far in the competition. However, this time around, Ivory Coast were eliminated from the group stages of the tournament.
Therefore, the 22-year-old center half will be returning to join the Manchester United squad sooner rather than later.
Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that the versatile defender should be returning this week but he will not be playing tonight in the EFL Cup against Hull City (Daily Star).
“He’s not ready for tomorrow obviously but he’s coming back. No problems.”
The Red Devils defeated the Tigers 2-0 in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi final at Old Trafford and are favorites to join Southampton in the final. The Saints eliminated United’s arch rivals Liverpool last night.
Jose’s men have failed to win their last two fixtures and will be hoping to get back to winning ways tonight.
