Chelsea failed to extend their winning run against Tottenham who ended their 13 game streak in the Premier League last night to confirm that the Blues are not invincible.
Italian boss Antonio Conte is in the market to sign a new midfielder after selling Oscar to China. The former Juve boss signed Kante last summer and already has Matic in his squad. Still, the Stamford Bridge club are looking to sign a defensive midfielder.
The likes of Franck Kessie and Tiemoue Bakayoko are in the limelight. Last month, we covered a report (via the Times) claiming that the Conte is looking to sign the 22-year-old French international who is rated around 40 million pounds ($49million).
Now, Daily Mail have claimed that Chelsea are lining up a bid to sign the Monaco star in the winter transfer window. They are also in talks to sign Franck Kessie but do not want to pay Atlanta’s asking price of 30 million pounds. So, how will they pay Bakayoko’s asking price?
Chelsea will have to spend big to sign a quality midfielder this month because everyone is aware that they have money to spend after Oscar’s sale.
Bakayoko is a strong defensive midfielder but probably not better than PL proven DMs like Matic and Kante. The Les Bleus star has featured in 26 games for the Ligue 1 side this season and scored 2 goals.
In your opinion, do Chelsea need Tiemoue Bakayoko?
