Arsenal have not been very active in the winter transfer window. Apart from luring young Cohen Brammal, the North Londoners have mainly focused on agreeing new deals with their current crop of stars.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then the Gunners are gaining strength to seal the signing of one of the brightest Primeira Liga starlets in the form of Goncalo Guedes.
According to reports (SW via Record), Benfica president Vieira has traveled to London to negotiate a deal with Arsenal for the 20-year-old playmaker, who has a release clause of 60 million euros in his contract ($64million).
Guedes can effectively play anywhere in the attacking third and this season, Benfica have mainly utilized him as a secondary striker. In the current campaign, he has scored 7 goals and provided 7 assists in 28 appearances for the reigning Primeira Liga champions.
As per the provided SW link, the talks are set to gain significant advances in the next dew days, however, the talks in London do not definitely mean that the player will move to the Premier League.
Not to forget, Manchester United have been interested (via Mirror) in signing the youngster for quite some time as well.
Wenger is not a fan of the winter tranfer window and he is not renowned for splashing huge amounts of cash to lure youngsters. Therefore, it will not come as any surprise if the move does not happen.
