Liverpool have been in fantastic form this season and are currently six points behind league leaders Chelsea.
The Reds are one of the favorites to win the Premier League title but they must reinforce the squad in the winter transfer window to make their case stronger.
Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool have made an offer to Brazilian midfielder Thiago Maia (ESPN BR).
Thiago was part of the Brazilian squad that won the Olympics this summer under the captaincy of Barca superstar Neymar. He has been impressive for Santos and proved to be a strong DM and also a creative central midfielder.
Moreover, he has the power and trickery to contribute in the attacking third as well and can be fruitful for the Reds in the absence of Sadio Mane who will leave for the African Cup of Nations next month.
Such versatility is a major asset and Liverpool must secure his signature.
Last season, the teenage midfielder featured in 21 games for Santos and helped them finish second in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A.
Santos manager Dorival Junior rates Maia very highly and wants the club to give him a new deal (Esporte Interativo). Praising him, Dorival claimed:
“There’s this kid that’s starting, Thiago, and I’m appealing to his agent to get this deal with Santos. It is a possibility for this kid to grow, he is a promising kid, who is sure to have a very big growth, he will be a top player in Brazilian football. But he needs a longer period, needs stability, and he will only achieve if he has a sequence”
As per the provided ESPN BR link, other top clubs are also interested in securing the signature of the Samba starlet who is rated around €40million (Football Italia) by the Brazilian side.

JK please get Maia for Liverpool, dnt be distracted by the price, he will be a good replacement for Sadio Mane when he leaves for AFCON.
I think this would be a fantastic signing. His age, another added advantage. Also increases our Brazilian contingent.
