Manchester United defeated West Ham United in the EFL Cup quarter final last night to book their place in the last four. The Red Devils will face Hull City in the semi final of the competition.
The Red Devils are looking bolster their back line in the winter transfer window after shaky performances under the management of Mourinho. United have conceded 15 goals in 13 league games so far this season.
Once again Portuguese international and Southampton star Jose Fonte is linked with a move to Old Trafford. Back in summer, the Red Devils were interested in signing (MEN) the Euro 2016 champion but the move did not happen.
Now, according to the latest reports (The Sun), United are looking to finally agree his signing in the January transfer window and the Saints are resigned to losing the 32-year-old defender.
Fonte currently captains the Southampton side and has been solid at the back under the new manager. At the European Championships, he did not feature in any of the group games but played every minute in the KO rounds and helped Portugal lift the trophy.
He has featured in 14 games for the Saints this season and have helped them keep 7 clean sheets.
