Liverpool need to reinforce in the winter transfer window to push for the title this season. However, do they really need a midfielder?
The Reds already have versatile midfielders like Can, Wijnaldum and Henderson in the first team but they do not have a strong defensive midfielder and must sign one.
In such a scenario, Atlanta’s Franck Kessie has been linked with a move to Anfield for quite some time.
There were reports indicating that Liverpool are going to offer $28million to sign the 19-year-old midfielder.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then Liverpool are actually leading the race to sign Kessie.
According to CalcioMercato, Liverpool have repeatedly sent scouts to monitor Franck’s performances, Klopp is impressed by the potential of the player and has instructed to offer in the region of €20m-€25m ($21m-$26m) to agree his signing.
The Italian source claim that Juventus want the Ivorian international but the Serie A champions will not be able to match Liverpool’s offer and would not go above €15m.
Kessie is a defensive midfielder who can also play a creative role in the center of the park. This season, he has directly contributed in 8 goals (6 goals and 2 assists) for the Italian side in 15 appearances.
In your opinion, will Kessie improve the current Liverpool squad?
