Liverpool suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Bournemouth yesterday and it is quite evident that the Reds need to step up and sign quality players in the winter window if they are to have any chance of winning the league title this season.
According to reports going on in the media (Express), Jurgen Klopp is looking to seal two deals worth 50 million pounds ($63.5million) by luring star players like Virgil van Dijk and Moussa Dembele in January.
Even after luring the likes of Karius, Matip and Klavan, Klopp has so far failed to solve Liverpool’s defensive dilemma and signing a top defender like Van Dijk should help big time.
The Southampton star has been in top form this season and has what it takes to reinforce the Reds’ back line.
As per the provided Express link, Man City are favorites to sign him but Klopp hopes that Virgil will be persuaded to move to Anfield. In recent seasons, Liverpool have lured Mane, Lovren, Lallana, Lambert and Clyne from the Saints.
As far as the strike-force is concerned, Dembele has been in top form for the Scottish side since moving from Fulham FC.
The young French striker has already scored 17 goals in 28 appearances and is wanted by more than a few top European clubs. Hence, it will not be easy for Liverpool to hire the services of Moussa in winter.

I was slated, on various websites, immediately after the Bournemouth game for suggesting Karius is no better than Mignolet and that Lucas, at about five-foot-six, is not a CB but I’ve today seen many other comments by people who agree with me!
When the ball was crossed towards Ray Clemence we didn’t worry . . . he would deal with it. When the ball goes anywhere near Mignolet we worry and now, we’ve got to admit it, when the ball goes anywhere near Karius we STILL worry. Sorry, we need a commanding keeper who can catch a ball whilst giving confidence to the defenders around him!!! Is that too much to ask?
I’ve not seen one commanding performance from Karius yet, with him flapping at ball after ball.
Lucas and Lovren scare me as they simply aren’t good enough and, between Lucas, Karius and Lovren we’ve got a very dodgy area for high balls to float into.
Agree with much you have to say Red Phil as I mentioned similar things. Lucas is not a center back yet starts ahead of Klavan & Sakho. We know Sakho is finished and shows Klopp has no faith in Klavan. Mignolet definitely has mistake in him but Karius looks more of a down grade. Some think we should just stick it out with Karius give him more time and he might come good like De Gea . The key word is “MIGHT” or he won’t come good? I said our problem is we can’t wait, we need a decent Keeper now if we want a chance to win the League. Others responded by saying we were never meant to challenge this season and should stick it out with Karius and what will be will be. I think it’s not a positive way of thinking cause we are still in a good position and have no European football so why not give the League crack as we won’t get too many opportunities eg couple years ago. Mignolet is certainly not commanding but is more experienced and definitely a better shot stopper than Karius as I’ve not seen any real positive about him. We should have taken Jo Hart on loan. I know he has made 1 or 2 high profile mistakes but he is better than our 2 keepers plus he looks like the type who responds well with a point to prove. A loan would have meant we could sent him back if he was no good or keep him if he did really well. I have to admit I do like Oblak who’s class but can’t see Athletico letting him go.
Even african goal keepers are far much better than that karius! His a disgrace sell him we can’t afford to lose the title
Klopp must use players from the under 23 it’s time to use them
Klopp should kindly sell Lucas and go for the Southampton player even if he’s expensive because to miss the trophy this time around will be a big blow to us ,we did that same mistake with sevilla why???????
Bruce Grobbelaar was African what’s that comment supposed to mean
I’m a Liverpool fan in South Africa. I prayed for a win on Sunday but was disappointed to see the results when I came back from church. The results reminded me of the 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park again Crystal Palace four three years ago. I was hurting that night and accepted that my team Liverpool will never win the EPL. But now I believe we have a very good chance of wining it. I just think our Emperor should trust all his troops. Sturridge should be given opportunity when others are not performing. I also never trusted Karius. If Klopp continues with him, we are going down. We need Oblack or Himdanovic or Joe Hart. Hart will jump at the opportunity to return to England. But I have a feeling that We aren’t gonna walk alone this season. Forever Red
Red Army or Koppites as we are popularly known, we need a good experienced goalkeeper and reenforcements on the central defence, for instance since the injury and absence of Joel Matip, all the gaps have reappeared at the back. Two of the goals of Bournemouth were scored due to mis-clearance of central defence. I have a question, where is Momodou Sakho and what wrong did he do which cannot allow him to be featured? Jurgen Klopp and backroom staff need to wakeup otherwise this will be another frustrating season. For instance why keeping a player who was out of game the first 20 minutes and lasted up to 50 minutes? If the striker is tired and central defence pairing are out of game, replace them immediately, otherwise this demotivates other players and the team performs poorly just like what happened on Sunday. Overall first half performance was good but the team completely under preformed after 20 minutes and were very passive, the usual pressing was not there! This reminded us of the Seville game of the Europa Cup Final when the team became naive in second half, defending terribly and passing was totally forgotten. If JK improves on these frailties, our team will be unbeatable and the lost glory will return to club. Keep it up Red Army and keep up the Kops!!!!!
