Liverpool are seriously looking to strengthen their attack in the winter transfer window and stars like Quincy Promes and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are linked.
However, if reports in the media are anything to go by then the Reds are also interested in signing former Real Madrid star and current PSG attacker Jese Rodriguez, who is better than the above mentioned duo.
Las Palmas president Angel Ramirez has claimed that Liverpool are one of the clubs ready to sign the versatile Spanish international. He stated (Daily Mail via Las Provincia):
“Jese Rodriguez is a great footballer, he wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high.”
“Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns. We cannot afford that salary.”
The 23-year-old La Furia Roja star won all the major prizes with the Los Blancos. He could not start regularly but had fantastic stats. Last season, in 8 starts (38 apps), Jese directly contributed in 14 goals (6 goals and 8 assists).
Paris Saint-Germain paid a decent fee to lure him last summer but new boss Emery has mainly preferred the likes of Moura and Di Maria in the starting XI. Rodriguez has only started 2 games this season and scored 2 goals.
Chamberlain is wanted at Anfield (via Sky) but the England international remains inconsistent for the North Londoners. On the other hand, Dutch attacker Promes has not shone in a top league. Currently, he plays for Russian side Spartak Moscow.
Jese has been a consistent performer, can play anywhere in the attack even as a center forward and Klopp needs a star like him to replace Mane when the African playmaker departs for the African Cup of Nations next month.
Now, this guy looks promising!!!! Able to play across the front line, superb scoring record and maker of goals – when he plays – and young with experience of playing for Madrid. What’s not to like?
We’ve had many ‘Big Jessies’ over the years, despite not knowing they were ‘Big Jessies’ when we bought them at huge cost, so now let’s go out and knowingly buy a Jese!
