Manchester United need to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window and several quality players are linked.
The Red Devils have been tracking Swedish defender and Benfica star Victor Lindelof for quite some time and the latest reports suggest that Mourinho has made him his top transfer target.
According to Mirror, the Old Trafford club have already contacted and inquired about the 22-year-old central defender and now he is Jose’s No.1 transfer priority.
Last month, Portuguese source O Jogo reported that United have initiated talks to sign the highly rated center back.
However, as per the provided Mirror link, the Primeira Liga giants do not want to lose him now because the club are still in the Champions League so United may have to wait for the summer transfer window.
The former Vasteras defender has featured in 20 games for the Portuguese giants this season and according to reports (Daily Record) Victor Lindelof is rated around 50 million pounds (€60million).
Mourinho signed Ivorian center half Eric Bailly in the summer transfer window but the former Villareal star has been injury prone.
United must splash the cash to sign a top quality central defender and Lindelof fits the bill perfectly. However, signing him in the middle of the season is easier said than done.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds.
