Chelsea reinforced their central midfield by signing a top French midfielder in the form of N’Golo Kante in the summer transfer window.
The Blues were also interested in signing Croatian star Marcelo Brozovic but the versatile midfielder eventually stayed with Serie A side Inter Milan.
Brozovic’s agent has lately revealed (CalcioMercato) that the player was close to Chelsea and Juventus back in the summer transfer window.
“He (Brozovic) was closer to Juve and Chelsea but now we do not think of the past. Let’s see what the future brings.”
Capable of playing anywhere in the midfield, the 24-year-old star has featured in 12 games for the Nerazzurri this season, scored four goals and provided two assists.
The Croatian star has recently agreed a contract extension with the Italian side and as per the provided CalcioMercato link, his agent has confirmed that Marcelo has a release clause of 50 million euros (£42million) for the teams outside Italy.
Chelsea already have quality players like Kante, Matic and Fabregas in the center of the park and they really do not need another midfielder.
Cesc provided assists for Costa in the last two league games and Conte must hold onto the Spaniard because he is a top quality player.
