Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League and if they continue playing this well then they can surely win the title this season.
At the moment, the Reds are joint league leaders with Arsenal and Man City. As far as the transfers are concerned, Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he is perhaps ready to reinforce the squad in the January transfer window (Liverpool Echo).
Striker Danny Ings will be out injured for a long time but his absence is not the biggest concern. Liverpool have players like Sturridge, Origi and mainly Firmino who are ahead of Ings in the pecking order as far as the strike-force is concerned.
The real dilemma will be the absence of Sadio Mane in January when the summer signing will depart for the African Cup of Nations. The Senegalese international has been brilliant for the Merseysiders since joining the club from Southampton.
As per the provided Liverpool Echo link, Klopp states that Liverpool will need a winger when Mane is on international duty and he has hinted two solutions.
- Liverpool are looking at the market all the time and may move to sign someone if a player is injured (Ings) or on international duty (Mane). Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic is on Liverpool’s radar.
- The Reds can play last summer’s £29m (BBC) signing Roberto Firmino as a winger which would leave them with two strikers (Sturridge and Origi) who can start up front.
Mane is going to leave early in the month of January and will be out for at least a few weeks. Liverpool have only lost to Burnley in the PL this season and that is the only league game that Sadio has missed (injured).
Firmino is more than capable of replacing Mane on the wing but the Brazilian has been doing brilliantly as the lone forward up front.
In your opinion, should Liverpool sign a new winger to replace Mane or Roberto Firmino is the guy for the job because the new man may take time to settle into Klopp’s system.
what happen to my guy? Sheyi Ojo! I heard his bach training.
Klopp can start to give Sheyi Ojo some good game time now to build his confidence and sharpen his skills for the transition. Else, Christian Pulisic will be a fantastic addition.
There’s no need for a new signing when we have origi, ojo, sturridge in squad
