Back in 2009-10, Liverpool scored six goals against Hull City at Anfield. Steven Gerrard scored a wonder goal that day and former No. 9 Fernando Torres netted a brilliant hat-trick for the Reds.
Yesterday, the Merseysiders scored six goals against Watford (could have been 10) in an entertaining contest.
Liverpool have moved to the top of the Premier League and are the top scorers too with no fewer than 30 goals in 11 games.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the home side in the first half with a quality header from Coutinho’s cross. Minutes later, the Brazilian attacker doubled the lead with a low shot from outside the box.
German international Emre Can made it 3-0 before the break with a headed finish from Lallana’s inch perfect ball.
The England international was on song and set up the fourth goal for Firmino who netted the ball in the net from close range. The former Hoffenheim star then set up Mane for his second and Liverpool’s fifth.
Soon after scoring, the Senegalese star was substituted for Wijnaldum who netted Liverpool’s sixth late on in the game to complete Watford’s misery.
Retired German star Michael Ballack could not believe that Liverpool scored six goals without Gerrard & Torres. He tweeted:
6-1?? ?? Did @Torres and #StevenGerrard play in #Anfield today or something ????? @LFC #LIVWAT #LFC #Torres #Gerrard @Gerrard8FanPage ⚽️⚽️
