Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League and have what it takes to become serious title contenders under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
The Merseysiders reinforced their squad in the summer transfer window and major emphasis was on the defense. The German manager signed two new center halves in the form of Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan.
Moreover the Reds also lured a new goalie in the form of Loris Karius. Still, the defensive concerns have not been sorted and Liverpool only managed to keep their first PL clean sheet of the season in the eighth game.
In such a scenario, Liverpool are once again linked with a new defender. According to reports, Liverpool have entered the race to sign Swiss international and Hoffenheim center back Fabian Schar (Daily Star). He is rated around 9 million pounds ($11million).
The 24-year-old defender is an experienced star who is not only solid at the back but also effective in the attack when needed. He has scored 6 times for the senior national side in 26 games.
The question is, do Liverpool really need the former Basel star?
In all fairness, Liverpool already have more than a few central defenders and after signing two last summer, the Reds must focus on luring a strong defensive midfielder to solve the dilemma at the back.
