Arsenal are facing a major injury crisis as far as the defense is concerned and they must sign a top center half before the new season starts next week.
On the other hand, the North Londoners also lack a clinical goalscorer. In fact, they have been without one since the departure of former captain Robin van Persie.
The Gunners have been linked with numerous strikers and a certain South American star has been in the limelight in the form of Mauro Icardi. Arsenal were interested in signing the Argentine forward last year and they have followed him this summer as well.
Now, according to the latest reports, Wenger is willing to finally sign the star who is rated (Telegraph) around 54 million pounds ($70million).
The French boss is ready to pay 29 million pounds, plus Olivier Giroud to hire the services of the 23-year-old Inter Milan star (Daily Star via Gazzetta World).
The former Sampdoria star scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists in 33 games for the Nerazzurri last season.
A similar (Cash + Giroud) deal was also offered to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli but the move did not happen and the former Real Madrid star joined Serie A champions Juventus.
Will Arsenal be able to secure the signing of Icardi? Only time will tell.

let’s be realistic here, does icadi as a striker could be compare to giroud in any form, does icadi up to 16/20goals a striker in EPL, does He even worth playing as lone striker as Olivier has been for some years in arsenal shirt. not less adding giroud to a fee to a powerless, striker like Him. Pls stop the rumor,Wenger is not blind,He might only be economical. Let us go for world class or better still an unknown striker who is ready to play his life on pitch to get a whole lots of goals.
Any deal that involves swapping Giroud is a bad deal. We need additional striker and not a swap. Sign Icardi or Lacazette and make Arsenal more potent up front. Giroud by all means should remain.
Giroud needs to stay.. We tired of being a selling club.. Wenger should swollow his pride and make us a buying club again.. Make us the great club we once were that everyone feared..getting rid of Giroud is definately a step in the wrong direction.. Wake up
Icardi has done nothing to prove that he is the striker to win Arsenal the title. His figures are the same as those of Giroud. Arsenal should be looking for something better.
Wenger is not serious about signing serious players. Quality players don’t come cheap. The likes of Lacazette, Icardi or Mahrez are way beyond what Wenger is willing to pay; so let’s forget it
This is not right. Giroud has a few shortcomings, but is still very vital up front. Add a striker and you will see the goals flowing. Besides, Giroud is a humble guy, boos and all he still smiles and strives to do his best. Wake up Arsene.
Giroud should remain with the club.what we need is the additional striker to help Giroud
up front.
Arsene Wenger should not be afraid or scared of retirement because Arsenal fans are tired of him. His early departure is highly recommended and favoured so that the increasing difficult times currently happening at Arsenal could eventually come to an end. Wenger has no interest in the club because he has overstayed his usefulness. It’s high time, Arsenal as a club move on without Wenger. The signing of a striker has been on the card since the close of last season. Wenger has been trading with high profile strikers since the official opening of the transfer market but the stingy Professor of Economics have not been able to make one tangible signing up fronts. Arsenal board could open a financial institution for Wenger to manage for them rather than the futbol club where the generality of interests of fans across the globe is being jeopardised. Wenger should retire now and give peace a chance.
I follow your point but Wenger does not want to loss his very high salary so simply. He will stay till the management decide to end with him..
As important as the issues of Arsenal defence, a quality futbol manager is making bid for Manchester United outcast in the person of Johnny Adams who could not find his bearing in Manu and at West Brom. Am sure, there’s an underground by Arsenal management to share the transfer kitty amongst themselves. They claimed they looking for a world class striker and now Mauro Icardi is available at a cost Wenger cannot afford. Who’s deceiving who here. Bullshit, men.
Yaah, our two problems are Arsene Wenger and that American majority shareholder. Why On earth Arsenal doesn’t learn from other big clubs who break the bank to land exceptional players and exceptional coaches, onlyvHod knows. It’s another disappointing transfer window for us to be followed by an equally disappointing and disastrous season for us. Even the proverbial and embarrassing perennial top 4 position will surely elude us in the 2016/17 season.
I think it’s far better to finish outside of the top 4 than to always finish 3rd or 4th without winning the League. Other teams are not scared to buy Paul Pogba for £110 000 0000 yet Wenger hasn’t learned his lesson yet about the stubborn reality that it’s money which is now winning leaves and trophies.
Wenger has long been been a liability to Arsenal. Let me focus on my studies or something better, this Wenger and his stubbornness and philosophy sucks. I wish for Arsenal to end outside the top 10 if that will knock sense into the Arsenal executives and cause them to get rid of their goddamn economics and more importantly, to get rid of Wenger.

We are tired of Wenger, every year we remain the same, infact am tired of supporting him while he is not encouraging our support, while other team are lbusy buying players Wenger is busy looking for a cheap way, well, i thank God that Mourihno still remain in EPL and have already make a very strong addition to his team, by the time start addressing Wenger a Professional failure pls no body should blame him because he is saying the truth, MR WEnger is a professional failure, we dont need him any more
Yes Brother i ‘ve liked your remanks its 100% true becouse we need to be abuy’g team not aselling team as he has said and we shall not have one 1st team like ather teams that act of sell’g Giroud is not good becouse giroud just need an additional striker…..so its better to bring in more players than again selling the small one your having so giroud should remain. This is becouse last season Arsenal faced the same problem where by the likes of Santi Cazorla got injured in the middle of the season with out any body to replace and that made Arsenal to losse the chances of win’g the title and Lececiter City took over so you never know the same thing may happen to any new striker whom they are all expecting to replace giroud ,so whom will they use as aback up pleas??? so they should think wisely.
Bonaroca :- Every Arsenal Supporter knows that we need a top Central Defender and a goalscoring C/F.
But in my humble opinion Arsenal must change up to a certain extent there tactics, which means playing
a faster game, not take minutes to pass the ball many times over and over again giving their opponents
time to recover to close up their defence.
My point is that over the years Arsenal have suffered several injuries, part of it because they try to be to
clever before passing the ball and their opponent would come in with their sliding tackles. To much over
passing have cost us goalscoring chances and in many instances the defence have been caught napping
while Arsenal are pressing for a GOAL.
My point is that Arsenal have enough top quality players who could fill in gaps when first teamers need a
rest, there should be a policy that each player is ear marked to play say 30 games in a season, and any
replacement from what I would say come from the reserves who should play possibly at home to build the
necessary confidence.
Meanwhile, I wish Arsenal the best of luck for 2016/17 season starting against Liverpool.
.
You are potential Harry Redknapps who would bankrupt our club for a short term fix, trying to compete with the unlimited funds of clubs who are able to buy the title. How much truth are the media giving us about these so called failed attempts to buy? Arsenal do not talk about their transfer targets. We finished 2nd last season and have just beaten Man City deservedly. We – the true fans- must support our team and whichever players are wearing our colours. You Johnny-come-lately fans should be careful what you wish for!
