Having already signed one center half this summer in the form of Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers, Arsene Wenger has inquired about luring the likes of Jonny Evans and Shkodran Mustafi.
At the moment, Arsenal’s first choice center backs are Gabriel Paulista and Laurent Koscielny.
Veteran Per Mertesacker is out with a long term injury and the Gunners need to sign at least one experienced defender to reinforce the back line.
In such a scenario, reports (Telegraph via Daily Mail) suggest that Arsenal have moved in and inquire about signing Evans and Mustafi.
The 28-year-old Evans has won three Premier League titles with the Red Devils and currently plays for the Baggies. Last season, he featured in 30 league games for West Brom, scored a goal and also provided as assist.
On the other hand, Mustafi also featured in 30 league games last season, scored two goals and provided an assist for the Spanish side.
As per the provided link, the combined worth of Evans and Mustafi is 57 million pounds ($75 million).
In all fairness, the Northern Irish defender is past his best and Wenger must do whatever possible to hire the services of the German star before the start of the new season.
