Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already reinforced his defense this summer by signing a talented center half in the form of Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers.
The French manager seems serious about further strengthening his back line and wants to sign Valencia and Germany star Shkodran Mustafi to replace the injured Per Mertesacker.
According to reports (Goal), Wenger is hoping to secure the signature of the 24-year-old German international. Valencia have already rejected an offer of 15 million pounds for the World Cup winner and now Arsenal are ready to move in again with an improved bid of 20 million pounds to agree his signing.
Shkodran has got all the qualities to replace veteran Per Mertesacker who is past his best. On the other hand, Mustafi is in his peak years at the moment.
The former Sampdoria star has a release clause of 42 million pounds (€50million) in his contract (Sky). Last season, he featured in 44 games for the Spanish side, scored 2 goals and also provided 2 assists.
