Arsenal have signed a quality starlet this summer by hiring the services of Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers.
The youngster was impressive for the Gunners in the recently held friendly contest against Mexican club Chivas. He scored the opening goal of the game and was solid at the back as well.
However, the North Londoners need to sign another center half this summer after German international Per Mertesacker suffered a long term injury. In such a scenario, Mertesacker’s compatriot and Valencia star Shkodran Mustafi has been in the limelight.
Sky reported that the Gunners have opened talks to sign the 24-year-old defender. They also claimed that Mustafi has a release clause of 42 million pounds (€49.6 million) in his contract but the Spanish side may accept an offer of £25.3m plus a further £8.4m in add-ons.
Yesterday, Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli claimed (twitter) that Arsenal only need to splash €5 million more to agree a fee with Valencia for the transfer of Mustafi. When asked whether the move will go through, Emanuele replied that the deal is still on.
The World Cup winner will be a fantastic addition and Wenger must spend the cash to secure his services.
