Arsenal’s veteran defender Per Mertesacker has suffered a long term injury and the Gunners are looking to find a replacement for the German international.
In all fairness, Mertesacker is past his best and the North Londoners should have sold him a long time ago. Nevertheless, according to reports, Arsenal want to sign Valencia star Shkodran Mustafi to replace the 31-year-old center half.
As per Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli (twitter), Arsene Wenger has made an offer of 18 million euros ($20 million) to sign the 24-year-old star but the Spanish side are demanding a fee of 25 million euros for their prized asset. Emanuele further claimed that Mustafi is still potentially going to Arsenal next week.
Shkodran featured in 30 league games for the La Liga club last season, scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist. The German star has featured in 12 games for the national side so far and scored one goal.
The former Sampdoria player is a solid defender and should form a strong central defensive partnership with French international Laurent Koscielny if he does end up moving to the Emirates.

Sign on Mustafi if he is of quality.
Seeing is believing. Let’s wait and see. Because we have heard this before. A player coming to Arsenal. Just to go to another club or stay with his current club
