There have been reports in the media linking Portuguese star Joao Mario with a move to Liverpool Football Club.
Recently, Portuguese outlet Diario de Noticias reported that Liverpool made an offer of 40 million euros to sign the 23-year-old star, however, the move was rejected by the Primeira Liga club because they want at least 60 million euros ($67 million) for their prized asset.
Moreover, Sky reported that the Merseysiders are still interested in signing the European Champion this summer.
However, we can confirm via a Liverpool source that the Reds are no longer interested in signing the versatile Sporting CP star. Last season, Joao featured in 45 games for Sporting and directly contributed in 19 goals (7 goals and 12 assists).
Jurgen Klopp approached Joao Mario even before the European Championships kicked off in France but the boss felt that the asking price is way too high and opted to sign Southampton star Sadio Mane instead.
German manager has also secured the services of Wijnaldum from Newcastle and the source has confirmed that Liverpool may only look to sign another attacker if Serbian international Lazar Markovic is offloaded this summer.
