Manchester United Set to Make Huge Transfer Blunder

Jose Mourinho ChelseaManchester United have signed three top quality stars so far in the summer transfer window and now the Red Devils are looking to offload certain stars.
According to reports (ESPN via Daily Record), Jose Mourinho is ready to sell the likes of Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Marcos Rojo.
While the latter two are understandable following injury concerns (Schweinsteiger) and a failure in holding down a first team spot (Rojo), the same cannot be said about Mata and Blind, who were in-fact two of United’s best performers last season.
Stats provided by Fantasy Football site Oulala suggest that Manchester United are set to make a huge transfer blunder by letting go players like Mata and Blind.
The Dutch international formed a solid central defensive partnership with Chris Smalling last season under the management of Louis van Gaal.
The Red Devils had the best defense in the Premier League last season (along-with Tottenham) and conceded only 35 goals. The entire Man United defense, including Blind, deserves credit for that.
As far as Juan Mata is concerned, stats provided below suggest that the Spanish international was the best attacking playmaker for Man United last season.
In the past, Mourinho has sold key players from his squad. He let Ibrahimovic join Barcelona from Inter. Not to forget, Juan Mata was Chelsea’ reigning Player of the Year when he was sold to Man United by Mourinho.
Therefore, it will not come as any surprise if Blind and Mata are sold this summer. New signings Bailly and Mkhitaryan will most likely replace the duo in Man United’s starting XI.
Last season’s key performance stats of Mata and Blind are provided in the infographic below.

  1. Roger Byrne says:

Blind nor Mata could realistically replace anyone from this Starting XI.
    Shaw, Smalling, Bailly, Fosu-Mensah
    Carrick, Herrara
    Martial, Rooney, Mkytarian
    Ibrahimovic
Therefore, it would be difficult to keep them both. I’d prefer to keep Mata though.
