Manchester United and Manchester City have been heavily interested in hiring the services of John Stones from Everton.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then the Sky Blues have won the race (MEN) to sign the highly rated English center back.
According to renowned Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli (twitter), the 22-year-old Evertonian will be joining Pep Guardiloa’s Manchester City and the Toffees will get a huge sum of 55 million pounds ($72 million) from the Citizens.
The former Barnsley star is a strong center back who can also be deployed in the fullback positions. Last season, he featured in 41 games for Everton. He was also part of the England squad at the European Championships but Roy Hodgson did not play him in the competition at all.
Stones will likely form a central defensive partnership with skipper Vincent Kompany under the management of Guardiola.
As far as Man United are concerned, they have already signed Eric Bailly from Villareal this summer but must splash the cash to sign another quality defender. The Red Devils are heavily linked with Fabinho.
