Infographic---Conte-v-Chelsea2Having reinforced his strike-force and the midfield by signing stars like Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante, Antonio Conte is looking to strengthen his back line by luring a top quality defender.
According to reports (Goal via Record), Chelsea are closing in to sign Swedish international Victor Lindelof and are ready to meet Benfica’s asking price of 25 million pounds ($33 million release clause) to sign the versatile defender.
The 22-year-old defender is mainly a center half but he can effectively play in the right back position as well.
Last season, Victor did not feature for the main Benfica side in the first half of the season. He got his first team chance in January 2016 after impressive performances in Ledman Ligapro.
Lindelof was part of the national squad that featured at the European Championships in France. He played in all the group games.
Victor is eyed as a replacement for Chelsea’s veteran defender Branislav Ivanovic. If he does end up joining the Stamford Bridge club then Conte may utilize him in the right back position.
Here is how Chelsea will line up with Victor Lindelof.
