Forget Higuain – Wenger Set to Agree $55million Deal to Finally Sign Star for Arsenal

Higuain NapoliArsenal have more than a few quality attacking players in the squad such as the likes of Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Iwobi, Alexis Sanchez and record signing Mesut Ozil.
Therefore, manager Arsene Wenger does not need to further reinforce his attacking midfield this summer.
The North Londoners do not have a proven quality striker and they must splash the cash to sign one.
However, reports suggest that Arsenal are going to lure another playmaker in the form of Leicester City superstar Riyad Mahrez.
The Gunners were linked with Gonzalo Higuain but they can now forget about signing the Argentine star striker because he is heading to join Juventus (ESPN).
Riyad Mahrez Leicester CityOn the other hand, Arsenal are set to agree a deal worth 42 million pounds ($55 million) with the Foxes to sign the Algerian international (Mirror via Eurosport France).
Mahrez was absolutely brilliant for Leicester last season under the management of Italian boss Claudio Ranieri.
He made 39 appearances for the Premier League champions last season, scored 17 goals, provided 11 assists and deservedly won the PFA Player of the Year award –  the first African player to win the coveted prize.
In your opinion, do Arsenal really need Riyad Mahrez more than a top striker?

  1. Werner says:

Mahrez would be a huge upgrade to what we have at the moment. But Wenger stil need a top class striker up front.
Lacazette,Sanches and Mahrez up front would do nicely.

  2. Max Anyanwu says:

As a Gooner let me vividly say that Arsenal needs R Mahrez as well as an established prolific striker if Arsene and his cohorts are really conscientious about EPl title in 2016/17 season.

  3. sunny says:

To be candid Arsenal require the services of R Mahrez. with him in that midfield in combination with a prolific striker, no team can withstand the fireworks of that attack.

  4. MoBiLiTy says:

I grossly agreed on this. R. Mahrez at the right side flank, A. Sanchez on the left while a sharp striker is placed inbetween them with Ozil and co supplying the ball for them, Arsenal will be feared and formmidable both in EpL and UCL.

  5. Wayne says:

It isn’t going to happen people. There will be NO MORE NEW signings. It’s all talk from the press. Gazidis was right about Arsenal not even looking for players right now. Both Gazidis and Wenger believe they have the squad to compete for the EPL this year. Say goodbye to Sanchez and Ozil next season as they realize Arsenal lack ambition to be a BIG team. The joke of the EPL.
