After finishing 10th in the Barclays Premier League last season, Chelsea must reinforce the quality of their squad this summer.
Yesterday, the Blues completed their first signing of the Conte era by hiring the services of star striker Michy Batshuayi from French side Marseille (CFC Official Website). The Belgian international has signed a five-year contract with the Stamford Bridge club.
According to reports (Daily Mail), Chelsea paid a mammoth fee of 33 million pounds (€39 million) to secure the signature of the 22-year-old forward.
Last season, Michy scored 23 goals and provided 10 assists in 50 games for the Ligue 1 side. He featured in 2 games (21 minutes in total) for the national team at the European Championships and scored a goal.
After releasing the likes of Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato (Telegraph), Chelsea needed a quality forward and Batshuayi is surely a top signing to strengthen the strike-force.
As per the provided Mail link, the likes of Crystal Palace and West Ham United were also interested in signing the Belgian star but the Blues eventually won the race to sign him. (Picture: CFC)
