Italian coaches are renowned for setting up strong defensive formations and it will not come as any surprise if new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte does the same at Stamford Bridge.
The former Juventus manager has already sealed the signing of a top defensive midfielder by luring N’Golo Kante (Mirror) in a deal worth (€73 million) 61 million pounds (Fee + Wages).
The French international is a versatile star who also played as a creative central midfielder for Leicester last season. Moreover, he is renowned for his brilliant work rate. Here is an image of Kante’s heat map against Germany (Euro 2016 semi-final) after he was brought on in the 71st minute of the game.
Another example of his fantastic work rate is provided below (Leicester vs Newcastle United back in March)
Kante likes to cover almost every area of the pitch and he will not just be a defensive midfielder for Chelsea. At times, he will also be given a free role in center of the park to win the midfield battles.
Here are the two ways Chelsea will line up with Kante.
