Manchester United are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain and Italian midfielder Marco Verratti in the summer transfer window.
Reports in Italy claim that the new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is ready to splash 100 million Euros to secure the services of the Azzurri star.
Italian source Corrire dello Sport report:
“The money that United are ready to put on the plate? Brace yourselves, 100 million , the euro more or less should not make too much difference. An offer of this nature, once seriously formalized would create embarrassment to anyone”
Goes without saying that it is baffling to pay the mentioned fee for Verratti. Yes, he is a quality player who is very creative in the center of the park but that sum should only make sense for someone like Paul Pogba.
Moreover, the 23-year-old Azzurri star had an injury hit campaign. Last season, Marco could only feature in 18 league games and could only start in 11 of them for the Ligue 1 champions.
Adding to that, Verratti was not selected in the Euro 2016 Italian squad due to ongoing injury concerns. Hence, paying 100 million for him would clearly be shocking and embarrassing.
The provided Italian source claim that PSG Sheikh is not going to give in and will not budge from the full asking price.

I don’t believe in this. It looks more like PSG putting Veratti on the market. On that position Moruinho already have Rooney and Herrera as potential options, and if wants to add someone he will opt for one of Mendes rising stars Gomes from Valencia. He is looking like a player who can develop into the one Mourinho likes. I don’t see what would Veratti bring to Man Utd and Premier League, he would need time to adjust and it would be tough for him and his size. Pogba would be great addition for example for similar money, but someone who would work in this squad. If I would have to bet on Mourinho’s choices in the midfield, I would bet on 2 additions. One would be Gomes (Valencia) and the second Matic (Chelsea) or Kante (Leicester). Then he would have Matic (or Kante) and Schneiderlin (or Carrick or Bastian) and Herrera to mix depending on oponennt, and in front of them Rooney or Gomes (or Herrera). I guess that Mata will be sold, Blind backup on left back and Pereirra loaned out.
