Liverpool supporters are not happy with the lack of signings in the summer transfer window. The Reds must act swiftly to secure the key transfer targets or they will lose them to other top teams.
According to reports (Mirror via BuzzSports), Liverpool are leading the race to sign Moroccan attacker Sofiane Boufal from French side Lille.
The 22-year-old African attacker had a brilliant last season with the Ligue 1 club and has attracted interest from top clubs. Liverpool have monitored him for quite some time and it is reported that a fee of 20 million Euros will be enough to lure the versatile playmaker to Anfield (Daily Star via Foot Mercato).
The former Angers attacker featured in 35 games in all competitions for Lille last season and directly contributed in no fewer than 16 goals (12 goals and 4 assists).
Boufal is naturally a central attacking midfielder but Lille have mainly utilized him effectively on the flanks and that is where he will most likely play for the Reds.
Here is how Liverpool will line up with Sofiane Boufal if he does end up joining the Anfield club.

Let’s be brutally honest, he’s supposed to be versatile which, as we all know, means he’s decent at a lot of things but spectacular at none. Milner is versatile, Lallana is versatile. We don’t want to replace these versatile players with similarly versatile players . . . we want and need superb, top-notch specialist players who will frighten the other top teams and not players who, apparently, will be able to ‘do a job’ in the way Milner can do. I hate the word versatile! Haven’t we spent too long trying basically attack-minded – and ‘versatile’ – midfielders in the defensive midfield area with highly average results?
Does this guy look physically strong? Do his figures look impressive? I’ll give you a clue . . . the answer to both questions is NO! For just under £15m he’s ours! United and City will shortly fight it out for Pogba and other star names and we might get somebody with average figures, who’s never played in a top league, who doesn’t look physically strong and who is summed-up by the word versatile! if there is any truth in any of these rumours we need to seriously look at raising the bar because the players we are supposed to be interest in are, in the main, not special! If our aim is to spend £40m whilst the top teams spend £100m let’s forget about chasing them, let alone catching and overtaking them! Not a happy bunny today!
Still fuming so let’s add a bit more, to get it out of my system! Yesterday it was Christian Tello supposedly on his way, another Barca reserve out on loan and doing very little so, obviously he’s a sure-fire candidate for LFC! So far, got a goalie for about four-point-something million, a free transfer CB and Marko Grujic, a young kid with, hopefully, a good future but nothing is certain yet as with every young player. How many other ‘prospects’ have come and gone?
With this Moroccan chappie, as well, we aren’t exactly frightening the world of football, are we? City might start next season with Pogba and Gundogan, two of the best midfielders in the world, plus, you never know, another couple of star signings . . . and we are rooting around in the Pound Shop for unproven, versatile players!
Even the Hector and Higuaín rumours have now died a death even though we need such players to fill massive weaknesses. Beginning to think the transfer activity this year will be as inept as the previous few years!
